Yumi Ito was born at the intersection of musical paths and cultures, as the daughter of a Japanese concert pianist and a Polish mezzo-soprano. She studied jazz singing in Zurich, then in Basel via New York. As a pianist, singer, composer and improviser, Yumi Ito has released five albums that move between neo-pop and contemporary classical with jazz roots.

We saw Yumi Ito in 2023 at the JazzOnze+ festival with a 4tet featuring Alessio Cazzetta on guitar, Nadav Erlich on double bass and Iago Fernandez on drums, and in 2024 at the Club Chorus in a trio without guitar, performing new songs of her next album.
