Live at the Blues Rules Crissier Festival

Rene Miller

We saw the American singer and guitarist Rene Miller on stage at the Blues Rules Crissier Festival 2024 with his Parisian friends Johnny Montreuil on double bass and Kik Liard on harmonica. It was an impressive show, after which the band won the festival’s audience award.

35 years of busking

«I began to play in the street, in the S-Bahn and in cafes in Berlin on July 14, 1989 because I lost my job as a doorman at the Loft nightclub. When the wall came down, I moved to Paris and continued until this day. I like playing with all people who share my love for music. 35 years of busking.

My groups have played all over Europe and the USA in all situations from the Roskilde Festival to birthdays and weddings to people who saw us on the street. How did I get into the blues? I found this box at someones’s house in August 1990.»

And what a box it was, a collection of cassettes from the Yazoo label containing the very best of the pre-war country blues that would give birth to modern blues and rock. A dream repertoire to start a life of street blues.
