Justina Lee Brown, from Lagos City, Nigeria, Swiss Blues Award 2024, discovered blues and soul music when she arrived in Europe.
We went to see Justina Lee Brown at the Blues Rules Crissier Festival 2023 and 2024. In 2024, pregnant with her first child, she is touring in support of her latest album Lost Child, a vibrant ode to all the children of Africa who die of poverty due to colonialism and corruption (1). As she says on stage, «I'm not black and I don't have to prove it. I belong to the human race with all its beautiful colors».
