Workshop with pianist Christian Sands at the Montreux Jazz Festival Residency

Lizz Wright

Lizz Wright has become a notable singer and songwriter on the African-American music scene, rising from her small-town beginnings in Georgia, where she led the choir at her father's church. For her, singing with her dark, supple voice deeply rooted in gospel is a way to fully communicate with reality, from soul to the standards of the Great American Songbook.

We heard Lizz Wright at the Montreux Jazz Festival Residency 2025, where she was accompanied on stage by American pianist Christian Sands.
